Frequently Asked Questions
Is sports massage only for athletes?
No. Many clients who book sports massage in Warminster and Rode are not competitive athletes. Sports massage is simply a targeted, clinical approach to treating muscular tension, postural strain and soft tissue injury. It is suitable for active individuals, desk-based workers and anyone experiencing muscular discomfort.
Does sports massage hurt?
Sports and deep tissue massage can feel intense at times, particularly where muscles are tight or restricted. However, treatment is always adjusted to your comfort level. The goal is effective treatment - not unnecessary pain.
Can massage help with sciatica?
Massage may help relieve muscular tension contributing to sciatic discomfort. If you are searching for massage for sciatica, treatment typically focuses on the lower back, hips and surrounding soft tissues. If symptoms are severe or neurological, medical advice may be recommended.
How do I know if I need sports massage or deep tissue massage?
Both approaches aim to reduce muscular tension and improve movement. Sports massage is often more injury-focused and performance-based, while deep tissue massage is commonly used for chronic tension and postural strain. During your appointment, Helen will assess your needs and tailor treatment accordingly.
Is pregnancy massage safe?
Yes, when delivered by a qualified practitioner. Helen is trained in specialist Hydrotherm pregnancy massage, allowing treatment to be carried out safely and comfortably without lying on your side. If you are searching for pregnancy massage in Somerset, you can feel comfortable knowing you are in safe, qualified and professional hands.
What is Hydrotherm massage?
Hydrotherm is a specialist technique using warm water cushions to support the body in a neutral position. This allows safe, effective treatment while lying comfortably on your back. This method eliminates the need to turn over, offering superior comfort and spinal alignment, making it ideal for pregnancy, injury recovery, or restricted mobility.
What should I wear to my massage appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to undress to your underwear, but you will always be professionally draped for privacy. If you feel unsure, this can be discussed before treatment begins.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the nature and duration of your condition. Acute muscle strains may require fewer sessions, while persistent issues such as frozen shoulder, tendonitis or postural pain may benefit from a short treatment plan. Advice will be provided following assessment.
